Ahri: Buy Me Mercury’s Treads!
For most people, getting Ahri Sorcerer’s Shoes is like a no-brainer. But recently some innovative players have proposed that, Mercury’s Treads may work better on Ahri!
Remember Ahri’s role. Ahri is best at constantly annoying the enemy team and assassinate enemy carries. Ahri can get in and out of a fight easily because of her super mobility. The only way to pin down Ahri is to CC her and burst her down within a short period. So what does Ahri fear most?
- Crowd control
- Magic damage
Those two are just countered by Mercury’s Treads!
A good example would be Ahri vs. Annie. Ahri has two Doran’s and Mercury’s Treads. Annie has two Doran’s and Sorcerer’s Shoes. Annie’s full combo with Ignite only brings Ahri down to a bit lower than half health, while Ahri’s full combo can kill Annie, if you can successfully land your Q. (Try it if you don’t believe.)
Remember why people fear Irelia? Because she can’t be CC’ed and she has good mobility and she does tons of true damage to your carry! Ahri has even better mobility and does even higher damage than Irelia, just less tankier. Imagine the possibilities of Ahri with tenacity.
I’ll test this and post feedback, probably.
You shouldn’t sell your soul to the devil even if you hated the world.
Official direct download links of Skype
These are download links of Skype I discovered. They will always be the latest version and multilingual. These are especially useful for Chinese netizens, because the official site will always redirect them to the so-called Chinese official site, where a specially made “Chinese Skype” will be served, which has long been rumored to eavesdrop its users.

Interesting Plot, effectively means China is poorer than D.P.R.K in 1960.
varocco:
The forces of economic convergence are powerful, but not all powerful. Poor countries tend to grow faster than rich ones, largely because imitation is easier than invention. But that does not mean that every poor country of five decades ago has caught up, as today’s chart shows. It plots each country’s income per person (adjusted for purchasing power) relative to that of America, both in 1960 and in 2008. The chart appeared in the World Bank’s recent China 2030 report. If every country had caught up, they would all be found in the top row. In fact, most countries that were middle income in 1960 remained so in 2008 (see the middle cell of the chart). Only 13 countries escaped this middle-income trap, becoming high-income economies in 2008 (top-middle). One of these success stories, it should not be forgotten, was Greece.
I hope eventually Chinese people can escape their poor fate.
Use MP4Box without installing GPAC
MP4Box is an essential tool to manipulate ISO base media file formats, such as MP4, 3GP, etc. Currently it is better than FFmpeg. Later on it is packed in GPAC, a multimedia framework of which the other parts don’t appear to be that useful.
To use MP4Box without installing the entire GPAC framework, you can extract relevant files from the installer using a extractor such as 7-Zip:
- js32.dll
- libeay32.dll
- libgpac.dll
- MP4Box.exe
- ssleay32.dll
And add the directory to your path. Then you are good to go.
Almost done
Recently I’ve been working on my program which is capable of automatically preparing movies and anime for the new iPad. I tried feeding Madoka’s opening to my program and got a somewhat nice result. You can see that my program is able to render subtitles in ASS format using custom fonts, thanks to libass.

Serious x264 bug: Everything becomes purple-ish!
przhu:
GIT LOG is not there. These kind of regression can be introduced in every revision.
You may even meet crash since IT IS FROM GIT!

Recently a serious x264 bug has been discovered. It makes your video look purple-ish. A comparison here pretty much proves it.
This bug has been fixed in the latest version. Technically, all encodes encoded by x264 prior to the fix needs to be re-encoded. But I cannot find any information about the exact version number to which the fix has been applied.
But it seems that all x264 encodes older than a month are purple-ish, ie. they need to be redone!
